Samuel B. T. Caldwell established The Genius of Liberty on January 13, 1817. It was published until 1841. Its offices were on Loudoun Street in downtown Leesburg. In 1878 Yardley T. Brown, at only twenty-two years of age, established the Loudoun Telephone in Hamilton, Virginia. For some time it was the only Republican newspaper in Northern Virginia. The Loudoun Telephone was in operation until 1902. |
