A
Story
of Round Hill

Loudoun County
Virginia
Ann Whitehead Thomas

This book, published by Friends of Thomas Balch Library, Inc., is the story of this small town from its beginnings to present day. Illustrated with maps and photos of the many historic buildings and homes, the book is a valuable resource for residents, teachers, historians and genealogists. While not intended to be a formal history of the area, it is a mixture of information extracted from county courthouse records, Round Hill Town Council minutes, excepts from old newspaper articles, census records, church histories, gleanings from the Thomas Balch Library in Leesburg, extensive family records and interviews with local people.

Ann Whitehead Thomas is a native Virginian and resident of Round Hill. She is a graduate of Mary Baldwin College, Staunton. Prior to her marriage, her connection to Loudoun County was an ancestor, Edward Snickers, for whom the village of Snickersville and Snickers Gap were named. She has been involved in genealogical and local history research for more than thirty years and served on the first Thomas Balch Library Advisory Board. In 1998 she received from the Library a Loudoun History Award for her effort to preserve the County's heritage.

A Story of Round Hill, Loudoun County, Virginia is available for $20 from the Thomas Balch Library, Leesburg, and at a number of outlets all over the county, including Loudoun Museum, Treasure House and Leesburg Pharmacy in Leesburg, Final Draft, Heart's Delight Gifts, Purcellville Marketplace, in Purcellville, Janney's Store in Lincoln, and The Fun Shop and Books & Crannies in Middleburg.
